We're so bombarded with images these days, it's refreshing when something comes along that stops us in our tracks. Random Photography 2 is just such a thing. On the face of it, it's the second issue of a 200+ page magazine stuffed from cover to cover with some of the world's best mountain bike photography. But it's more than that, because this is a labour of love. The brainchild of rider, photographer and graphic designer Dennis Stratmann, it's effectively a cooperative collaboration between some of the word's top snappers to showcase their work, unemcumbered by the usual constraints of magazine publishing. Oh, okay, there are a few ads, but even they're beautifully shot. The production standards are high, the photos have room to breathe with extended captions (and nothing else), the paper's high quality heavyweight stock with a real heft and the cover is quite literally a work of art in itself, resplendent in embossed velvet. No, really. The whole lot reeks of quality.
Best of all, it's available for just 10 Euros. Go on, treat yourself. If you like bikes and photography it's the best tenner you'll spend this year.
